Manhunt Continues for Lt. Joe Gliniewicz Shooters

The death of Lt. Joe Gliniewicz came as a shock and tragic loss to the Fox Lake community on Tuesday, September 1. Gliniewicz was chasing three suspects, two white men and one black man, on foot when he was shot. Gliniewicz died later from gun wounds he received while chasing the three men.

The manhunt continues for the three men suspected of shooting Gliniewicz. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office and Fox Lake Police Department are working with search teams that “include numerous local law enforcement officers from northern Illinois, Illinois State Police, and federal agencies, according to officials. Multiple local and federal SWAT Teams, 48 canine units, and six air support units were also dispatched for more than 14 hours Tuesday,” according to NBC Chicago.

Gliniewicz is survived by his wife and four sons. He was scheduled to retire at the end of this month.
