Shooting Death Toll for January is up to 15

There have been 16 total homicides in 2018 so far with another 48 people suffering gun shot wounds. No new information yet on the latest victims.

Another building on the Illinois State Fair Grounds is in need of emergency repairs in order to prevent a potential roof collapse. Barn 13’s roofing system has failed causing structural damage to the roof joints and decking.

A Man has been found mentally unfit to stand trial for the shooting of a Naperville Metra Conductor and will be released to a secure senior facility. 80-year old Edward Klein will be sent to a Facility in Wisconsin that specializes in dementia.

13 People Gunned down in Chicago for 2018

 

 

There have been 14 total homicides with 47 people shot and wounded. 53-year Old George Washington and another 49-year old man are the latest victims of Gun Violence in Chicago.

Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White will run uncontested in the Democratic primary after State Senator Micheal Hastings dropped out of the race. White says he’s going to work together with Hastings despite the drop out.

DuPage County authorities investigate reports of a fatal stabbing in Downers Grove on Wednesday. Deputies had not confirmed the cause of death early Thursday morning. Sources have said a Mother was stabbed to death by her teenage son.

 

8 Victims of Gun Violence already in 2018

The shooting death toll for 2018 in Chicago is already up to eight.  Police say recent shootings have occurred in the Englewood, Austin, and Woodlawn neighborhoods.  Another 34 people have already been wounded by gunfire one week into the new year.

Illinois officials are seeking more submissions for an Illinois State Police logo design contest.  The new logo will be used to commemorate the agency’s 100th anniversary in 2022.  The contest is open to Illinois State Police employees and retirees, as well as the general public.

A DeKalb man is killed in a car crash in Geneva on Sunday.  Police say 28-year-old Adam Bruner lost control of his car on W. State St. and crash into an oncoming car.  He and the other driver were taken to the hospital where Bruner was pronounced dead.

2018 sees 2 Shot and Killed in Chicago

Shootings in the Lincoln Park and Fuller Park neighborhoods took place on New Years Day. In 2017 624 people were killed by gunfire in Chicago there were 675 total homicides.

State Treasurer Michael Frerichs has announced changes to the Illinois claims process they include allowing people to file claims electronically and an automated that allows for quicker approval and payment of lower dollar amount claims.

Plainfield Police are reaching out to the public for information about a fugitive, 24 year old Tyler Jensen violated an order of protection, numerous times including domestic battery and aggravated assault.

Total Homicides in December have reached 30 in Chicago

 

Total homicides for the month of December have hit 30, with over a week left in the month. 29 of those 30 deaths were the result of gun violence including seven shootings this week alone. 614 people have been shot to death in Chicago in 2017.

State officials say food stamp benefits will be restored for tens of thousands of Illinois households that lost them because of problems with a state computer system. Officials with the Illinois Department of Human Services announced that benefits would be restored by the end of the day today.

A mother and two teenage daughters are in the hospital after a crash days after five people were hospitalized for a collision at the same location. Plainfield crews say a two car crash happened just after 6:30 Thursday evening at 119th and Route 30.

Curley Harvey latest named victim of Gun Violence

Four people have been killed by gun violence in Chicago since the start of the month on Friday. 42-year-old Curley Harvey was confirmed dead on December 1st in the East Garfield Park neighborhood. There have been 636 shootings deaths in Chicago this year.

Authorities investigate a bomb threat at the Illinois State Capitol. Police evacuated the building after the bomb threat was phoned in around 2:30 Monday afternoon. Investigators did not find anything and the building was opened again a few hours later.

A man dies in a single vehicle crash in Aurora over the weekend. Officers responded to the West Indian Trail and Deerpath Road around 10:30 Saturday night. They found 22-year-old Brian Dorantes after he’d been partially ejected from the car after hitting two trees. He died at the scene.

630 Homicides in 2017, 581 Gun Related

There have been 37 Chicago homicides this month and 34 have been shooting deaths. It brings the death toll for 2017 to 630, with 581 of those the result of gun violence. So far this week three people have been shot and killed, the latest in the Austin and Chicago Lawn neighborhoods.

Governor Bruce Rauner says improved detection and better scrutiny of packages in the mail will reduce the spread of fentanyl and other synthetic opioids. The governor toured the Chicago International mailing facility on Tuesday with Lt. Gov. Evelyn Sanguinetti. Illinois State Police Director Leo Schmitz also attended.

A high school teacher is accused of sexual misconduct. Jennifer Boudinot, who graduated from Downers Grove North High School in the late 90’s says she was harassed, and since then more women have contacted her saying they were either harassed or assaulted. The teacher is on leave.

Daimmyon Hackman latest victim of Gun Violence

The November shooting death toll is up to 32 out of 35 total homicides. There have been 628 homicide victims in 2017 with 579 of those the result of deadly shootings. 27-year-old Daimmyon Hackman is the latest name released. He was shot to death on the southside on Black Friday.

State officials are encouraging drivers to prepare for the onset of winter. Officials are pushing the theme, “Winter Weather?Get it Together.” The State Department of Transportation has posted a safe driving video online.

Authorities have found the body of a missing Aurora man. 61-year-old Michael Ryan had been missing since November 13th. His body was recovered in the West Aurora Forest Preserve near Indian Trail and Star Grass on Saturday morning. Police say no foul play is suspected.

DeShawn Johnson latest Victim of Gun Violence in Chicago

Six new deaths this week so far as a result of Chicago gun violence. It brings the total for the month of November to 19 and the 2017 death toll to 567. 18-year-old DeShawn Johnson was gunned down in the Uptown neighborhood this week, the latest name released.

State officials are offering safety tips as firearm deer hunting season gets underway this weekend. Officials say hunters using tree stands should secure themselves with a harness. Most of the nearly 30 hunting incidents last year involved hunters falling from tree stands or while climbing up or down.

St. Charles police are once again reminding the public to lock their vehicle doors. Police say every single victim in a string of car burglaries on the northeast side of town earlier this week were the result of owners leaving them unlocked. An unlocked car could give thieves access to one’s garage or home.
