Blagojevich appeals to Supreme Court


Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich is appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court for a lessened sentenced. Blagojevich’s lawyers submitted a writ of certiorari to the court Thursday to review the charges. The former governor was sentenced to 14 years in 2012 for corruption charges.

In the month of October, 46 people in Chicago were gunned down. It brings the shooting death toll for 2017 to 569 with nearly two full months to go. The latest shooting was reported Tuesday morning in the Austin neighborhood. The 30-year-old victim has not been identified.

Authorities have a positive ID on a body found dismembered in a Lincoln Park lagoon. The Cook County Medical Examiner confirmed the remains belonged to 76-year-old Elgin resident Gail Peck. Her son, 55-year-old Brian Peck is charged with first degree murder in connection with her death.
