In a big move for ovulating women everywhere, Chicago lawmakers have officially repealed the tax placed on tampons and pads.
Chicago women were paying a 10.25% on feminine products as they were considered “luxury” or “non-essential” products.
Thankfully, tampons and sanitary napkins are now considered medical necessities which are not taxed nearly as high.
The City’s decision has made waves in the State as well as State lawmakers are considering a similar, statewide repeal on feminine hygiene taxes.
